Hear from us at the National Disability Summit
Our Executive General Manager, Dylan Reynolds, and Manager of Windaan Aboriginal Services, Joseph Archibald, will join an expert team of keynote speakers at the National Disability Summit on August 20-21, 2018.
The 9th Annual National Disability Summit will take place at the Novotel Melbourne on Collins, and will continue the discussion and review the progress and initiatives in supporting people with disabilities and their families to maximise independence and participation by creating greater choice.
Dylan and Joseph have been invited to share their expertise in cross-sector collaboration for early intervention outcomes inIndigenous early childhood.
The roll-out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) across Australia is establishing an environment that encourages organisations to develop new and innovative approaches to the engagement of service users, and to the provision of service. Windaan Aboriginal Services was borne to deliver culturally appropriate NDIS support coordination and early childhood intervention disability services to the Aboriginal community in the Mid-North Coast of NSW with a focus on also reaching the rural community.
The presentation will focus on the benefits of building partnerships and developing complementary disability services to build upon the strengths of organisations already operating within each community. These initiatives effectively integrate a cultural model of care and community connectedness with integrated multidisciplinary allied and primary health services. This partnership-based model has seen sustained engagement with Aboriginal communities in the provision of early childhood intervention and primary health services.
