Our Vision for Reconciliation

Growing Potential’s vision for reconciliation is to be a valued leader through the provision of quality services with the capacity to respond professionally, ethically and responsively to individual and family needs, including and especially in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples space with enthusiasm and care.

Through our vision, we are committed to building trusting and genuine relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. Our aim is to develop a genuinely inclusive service for these communities. Additionally, we are dedicated to creating environments where our staff embark on a journey to increase awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, their history, protocols, and achievements. We also strive to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to exercise self-determination in support of closing the gap.

Fostering and embedding respect for the unique place, resilience, and beauty of the world’s longest surviving cultures is essential, given the fundamental role that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures hold in our Nation’s identity.

We will develop opportunities under a supportive framework, to drive reconciliation through practical steps by turning our organisation’s good intentions into positive actions that assist in improving socio-economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

To achieve this, we aim to boost service effectiveness and ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities achieve maximum positive impact within our existing divisions: early childhood education, early intervention childhood support, allied therapies, and disability.

We strive to be an employer of choice that enables our staff to develop greater cultural awareness and professional development practices that strengthen service delivery and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families, communities and stakeholders.

What is a Reconciliation Action Plan?

A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) gives an organisation a framework to contribute to the reconciliation movement.  A RAP delivers tangible and substantive benefits for First Nations peoples and increases cultural safety in the workplace.

There are four RAP types, – Reflect, Innovate, Stretch and Elevate – these allow organisations to continuously develop their reconciliation commitments.

Having completed the Reflect RAP, Growing Potential are now completing our Innovate RAP commencing July 2023 for a period of two years until July 2025.
